About Lily

I am an intermediate architect born in Guangzhou, China before moving to Lexington, Kentucky in 1989.  After having received my Bachelor and Master degrees in Architecture at the University of Kentucky, I moved to New York City seeking opportunities to expand on my architectural knowledge and experience.  I practiced architecture at Robert A.M. Stern Architects LLP  for 6 years. In 2012 I moved to Santa Monica and have been practicing architecture at Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners since that time.

I draw design inspirations from a variety of industries, including fashion, photography, industrial and graphic design, New York life, dance, and music and study each of these things in my free time.  Although my professional portfolio consists principally of postmodern architecture, I have great affection for the contemporary language of architecture. Specifically, I enjoy the latitude often afforded when designing museums, hotels, clubhouses, residential highrises, and villas and have most enjoyed working on projects within those categories. Examples of contemporary works that I admire in New York City are the MOMA, American Folk Art Museum, and the Highline.

Through architecture, I hope to contribute to this collective effort of architects to transcend a higher quality of life for people, in which optimism could be felt everyday. The goal is to provide places where people are drawn to and would find pleasure in living, in working, or merely for leisure purposes.
