The Benzonia Tower is a very interesting project, in the sense that the program for this office building is determined solely by the student. There is no designation of the site either. What is given is the original plan and the elevations withdimensions.
The challenge for the student is to redesign the Benzonia Tower with considerations of the original building.
My approach to the project is to retain the original dimension of the plan, and
begin to fragmentize it. I kept the elevator core, but it is pulled away from the building. The building is still supported by columns. The result is a building about deconstruction with sliding planes that slide into each other to help create additional structure for the walls. The planes also serve to frame views.
